FAQs

Sounds lovely, but how does it work?

Rest assured, it is a lovely experience. Here’s how it works…You arrive on Friday evening, and are served dinner upon arrival. During dinner, we get to know one another and indulge in a nourishing meal designed just for you. Afterwards, we transition to a space where we do a meditation or mindfulness practice. That is the rhythm of the weekend. Every meal is served, the host guides you through a practice, then departs so that you can enjoy your time alone to rest. Eat, practice, rest…repeat.

I’m ready, how do I book?

Great question. In an effort to foster intentionality, choose the weekend that makes the most sense in this moment, and email us your desired weekend at hello@huru.space. We will check our calendar and send you reservation details which will include a link to pay. If that date is not available, we will offer alternative options to consider.

What exactly is a “practice?”

Meditation and mindfulness come in so many different forms. No guest’s stay is the same so the practices are curated based on your intentions and aspirations for the weekend. For example, the practices for a guest experiencing grief or loss may differ than one who is coming to create spaciousness before entering into a new professional role. Practices include guided visualization, prayer, movement, consciousness sharing, mindful eating, journaling, and beyond.

Is there a way to gift a Huru stay?

Absolutely. The Rest Gift card offers an opportunity to do just that. In multiple denominations, gifting rest is at your fingertips. We also offer the Lily Experience which is Buy One, Give One.

I want to know more about the meals.

Of course! Meals are curated based on the culinary inspiration of each guest. We take everything you love and wrap it into a feast. We are health conscious so there will be seasonal goodness infused in the meals. Mealtime is also an opportunity to cherish the flavors from the black and indigenous roots in which many of us were raised. We do this by curating from the chefs we love and sharing our own signature dishes. It takes a village. The icing…you never have to wash a dish.

Is Huru only available in DC?

So glad you asked. Currently, our flagship experience is located in Washington, DC thanks to our generous partners at Selah. We are in the midst of exploring a few new markets so if you have a need, please shoot us an email so that we are aware and can prioritize accordingly.

Covid-19 precautions

Due to the current pandemic, it is our commitment to ensure proper safety protocols. In an effort to maintain optimal health, we ask that you only join us if you feel 100% healthy and have tested negative within 72 hours prior to your arrival. Please send a photo of your test by replying to this email. Please also bring a mask, wash your hands, and, when possible, maintain six feet from your host, that would be great. If you feel ill prior to your arrival, please let us know. We'd be happy to reschedule your stay.

Cancellation/rescheduling policy

Noting unforeseen circumstances do arise, you may reschedule your experience; provided the experience is cancelled more than 30 days prior to the reservation date, and another weekend is still available in 2023. If an experience is cancelled within 30 days, Huru will charge the full amount of the original booking in addition to the new rescheduled booking. This may result in additional fees beyond the experience pricing if not rescheduled before the 30-day deadline. If another weekend is not available in 2023, booking is subject to Huru availability in 2024.
