Futures in Bloom

Tomorrow is here. I know, it’s shocking right?

We did all this work, our sweat and tears rising in effervescence off our bronzed faces,

We did all this work and we prayed it was enough.

Even when we had my doubts, three little birds whispered sweet hope in our ears,

Virgin eyes cast rays in rooms larger than all our bodies

And they are oh so bright

Rest easy. Please rest easy my friends.

Tomorrow is here and it is shocking

Tomorrow is here and it is wonderful

Tomorrow is here and it is ours

Our destinies are an eternal chorus

Our futures, a love song banging on the pulled skin of the ether, echoes reaching the four corners of the black tent that holds us all

Rest easy my friends

The future is in bloom. Always.

We did all this work and we prayed it was enough. Even when we had my doubts, three little birds whispered sweet hope in our ears,

Rest easy my friends

The future is in bloom. Always.

Sesoo Igbazua is a Nigerian-born multi-disciplinary artist. His current works explore the alchemy of experiences into beauty. With a strong belief in healing and transformation as a means for deeper connection to oneself and divinity, his work uses an Afro-futuristic lens to explore themes of identity, transformation, belonging and beauty within the African diaspora. Often characterized by vibrant color choices, probing shapes and a threading of the borders of abstraction, his works are an ode to the alchemy of the post-colonial and post-slavery experiences of the diaspora, into beauty and expression.
